AEW Star Anthony Ogogo, who signed with the promotion in October of 2019, made his PROGRESS Wrestling debut at PROGRESS’ Chapter 127 And The Word Was PROGRESS Event on January 23rd, which took place from the Electric Ballroom in Camden, London. The show, which was held exactly 700 days after PROGRESS had a show with fans in attendance, saw AEW’s Anthony Ogogo defeat Hari Singh in quick fashion.
This is the first time that a wrestler from AEW has competed in a match in the United Kingdom and the first time Anthony Ogogo has competed in the United Kingdom since winning a bronze medal in boxing at the 2012 Olympics. PROGRESS’ Chapter 127 And The Word Was PROGRESS Event will reportedly be available on Demand PROGRESS as well as the WWE Network starting February 6th.
Ogogo made his AEW in-ring debut on the April 14, 2021 episode of AEW Dynamite, when he defeated Cole Karter in Singles action. Prior to being sidelined since undergoing eye surgery this past June, Ogogo last competed for AEW on the June 4 episode of Friday Night Dynamite, when he teamed with QT Marshall to defeat The Nightmare Family’s Cody Rhodes and Lee Johnson in a Tag Team Match.
Following his surgery and recovery from surgery, Ogogo made his highly-anticipated AEW in-ring return during All Elite Wrestling’s Dark: Elevation tapings from the Gas South Arena in Duluth, Georgia last December, where Ogogo teamed with fellow Factory members QT Marshall, Nick Comoroto and Aaron Solo to battle Baron Black and three enhancement talents in an 8-Man Tag Team Match, which ended with Anthony Ogogo securing the knockout win for his team. Anthony Ogogo, who last competed for AEW on the January 11th episode of Dark, when he defeated Baron Black in Singles action, had his biggest AEW match, when he faced AEW TNT Champion “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes at the company’s Double Or Nothing PPV in May 2021 in a one-on-one match.
