AEW Star Lio Rush Reveals He Will Be A Free Agent Soon

Pro wrestling veteran and former WWE Star Lio Rush, who officially signed with All Elite Wrestling on September 29th, 2021, took to his Twitter account and revealed that his AEW contract is set to expire on Monday, February 14th, 2022 and he will become a free agent by then. Lio Rush also said that he is now accepting booking inquiries via his email LioRushNow@gmail.com.

Rush made his All Elite Wrestling debut at this past May’s Double Or Nothing PPV, when he competed in the Casino Battle Royale as the joker wild card, but Rush unfortunately suffered a shoulder injury in the match. Lio Rush was reportedly not under contract with AEW at the time, but he did have some sort of a handshake deal with AEW President Tony Khan as Lio Rush was still under contract with New Japan. Shortly after Lio Rush’s appearance for AEW, he announced that he will be retiring from pro wrestling and the reason he gave is due to the injury he suffered at Double Or Nothing.

Lio Rush then made his official AEW Dynamite debut on the November 10th, 2021 episode, along with his tag team partner Dante Martin, when they defeated Matt Sydal and Lee Moriarty. Rush has been involved in a storyline with Team Taz and Dante Martin, while also making appearances on Dynamite, Rampage and AEW’s YouTube shows Dark and Dark: Elevation.

Lio Rush recently commented on the controversy surrounding Big Swole and Tony Khan and said if nobody says anything, then he will and he also told the AEW President to apologize. Several days later, Rush released a follow-up statement, in which he said he has spoken to AEW President and CEO Tony Khan and he is grateful to understand Khan’s own ethnic backgrounds and he is proud to be working for a person like Khan, who tries to make these strides in social equality.

Rush’s AEW status has been in question since as he has not made an appearance on Dynamite, Rampage or any of the weekly YouTube shows from that time and it appears that his storyline with Dante Martin as well as Team Taz has been dropped. There is no word yet on if Rush’s comments is what led to his exit in the company or if there are other issues as well, but updates will be provided once it’s been made available. Rush has also worked for promotions such as Ring of Honor, Combat Zone Wrestling and WWE.

Rush tends to wear out his welcome pretty fast as he’s got a big mouth, lacks respect for other wrestlers and lacks filter…same things were said in wwe as in aew…he is no big loss and nothing special
