All Elite Wrestling has filed for a new trademark to change the Bear Country tag team name. The team will now be called The Iron Savages. It was made official during last week’s Sunday Dark tapings, where JT Davidson will serve as their manager.
The company filed for the trademark on August 22nd with The United States Patent and Trademark Office under the entertainment services classification. The team of Bear Boulder and Bear Bronson have been working since 2017 and started their journey with AEW in 2020. It’s great to see a tag team get a new name and a manager because they have performed well over time. Now they get rewarded for it.
The tag team worked on the December 3rd episode of AEW Dark in 2020 in a losing effort to The Dark Order’s Evil Uno and Stu Grayson. The work impressed the officials, which helped them get an opportunity on television. They made their official AEW television debut in a 10-man tag team match on March 11th, 2021.
Are things going to change soon?
They lost during this Dynamite episode too, but the work ethic spoke for them, which helped them work another Dynamite show on July 6th, where they lost again in an 8-man tag team match. The match featured The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster) & The Gunn Club (Austin Gunn & Colten Gunn) while they faced Fuego Del Sol & Ruffin It (Boulder, Bronson & Leon Ruffin).
The new name does hint that the tag team may get a push. Will that happen, or is it just a window of opportunity for the tag team where they need to prove themselves? The change brings about a possibility that the AEW tag team division will be better, and there will be more contenders for the title. The bigger question is if they would add someone else to their tag team and go for the Trios Championship.
