The main event of last Friday night’s Fyter Fest Week 1 episode of AEW Rampage, which was taped after last week’s Fyter Fest Week 1 AEW Dynamite, saw the Lucha Brothers (Rey Fenix and Penta Oscuro) go up against Private Party (Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen) in Tag Team action and walk out of the match with a huge win, but it seemed that Fenix suffered an unfortunate ankle injury during the final moments of the bout as he was noticeably limping when he rolled his ankle after getting hit with an atomic drop.
Dave Meltzer revealed on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that Fenix is doing just fine and that he will not miss any in-ring action and the All Elite Wrestling Star even competed in a Fatal 4-Way Matchup against Flamita, Willie Mack and Jack Cartwheel at the AAA/Promociones EMW A Benefico De Los Hijos De Policias Caidos Event in Tijuana, Mexico just two days after AEW Rampage was taped, with Fenix getting the victory.
Rey Fenix did not compete during last night’s Fyter Fest Week 2 episode of AEW Dynamite and he has no match scheduled for tomorrow’s Fyter Fest Week 2 episode of AEW Rampage, but he does have a match set for Starrcast V, which will feature the final pro wrestling match of WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair.
This is what Dave Meltzer said:
“Rey Fenix, on the Rampage show. The deal with Rey Fenix was he I guess, hurt his ankle taking an atomic drop, which is totally safe, but it just happened. It was a fluke thing. Although, he’s okay. The match was taped Wednesday. He did wrestle Friday, he wasn’t limping Friday, but it was a scare. He was limping pretty badly at the end of the match on Wednesday that aired on Friday, and I thought, ‘Oh God, another injury,’ right? But, he apparently is okay. There are so many people hurt in AEW and they do need to change stuff. I don’t know if it means more matches. I don’t know what it means, but there are too many guys getting hurt.”
