Cody Says AEW Star Indirectly Inspired Him To Return To WWE

Former AEW Star and current top WWE Star “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes recently appeared on an episode of the Out Of Character podcast with Ryan Satin, where he talked about how Dan Lambert handed him the WWWF Championship, which his dad, “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes was holding back in 1977, but never actually won. Cody showed a photo of his dad holding the championship on the episode of WWE Monday Night RAW after WWE WrestleMania 38 and talked about how in the moment the title was handed to him, he felt like the decision was made for him to return to the WWE.

Cody Rhodes also talked about how he doesn’t know if Lambert inadvertently caused this moment to take place, but there were times when he thought this is what has to happen and what needs to happen.

This is what Cody Rhodes said:

“Dan Lambert handed me the WWWF Championship, he handed me the title that my dad is holding in that picture from 1977, he handed it to me and in that moment, I felt like that decision was almost made for me.” “I don’t know if he inadvertently caused this industry-changing moment but there were times when it was, this is what has to happen.”

“This is what has to happen and what needs to happen. I think we did it with respect and love and it feels like the casual fans, wrestling fans, sports entertainment fans, it feels like the fans get it and that’s really touching. I don’t know how long the honeymoon phase will last but we’re on the beach right now and really truly enjoying it.”
