In a candid announcement that has caught the attention of the wrestling community, rising independent star Freedom Ramsey has confirmed his departure from WWE’s Independent Development (ID) program, marking the end of a chapter in his professional wrestling journey.

In a candid announcement that has caught the attention of the wrestling community, rising independent star Freedom Ramsey has confirmed his departure from WWE’s Independent Development (ID) program, marking the end of a chapter in his professional wrestling journey.

Behind Closed Doors: Ramsey Reveals WWE ID Exit

Taking to social media with a heartfelt video message, Ramsey opened up about his status change with WWE’s developmental initiative. The talented performer, who joined the program in November 2024, made it clear that his exit wasn’t something that played out in the public eye.

I am no longer with WWE ID. This did not happen publicly, some things are just meant to be handled behind closed doors. I just wanted to keep it real with the fans who have supported me since day one, whether it was in small gyms or in the bright lights,” Ramsey explained in his video statement.

The WWE Independent Development program, launched in October 2021, continues to serve as a bridge between the independent circuit and WWE’s talent pipeline. Ramsey’s departure marks one of the more notable exits from the initiative in recent months.

Reflecting on Growth and Opportunity

Despite the end of this particular opportunity, Ramsey spoke positively about his time within the WWE ecosystem. His experience included valuable training sessions at the WWE Performance Center and appearances on WWE Evolve programming.

“WWE has always been a dream of mine. It changed me. Wrestling on WWE Evolve, training at the Performance Center, just meeting everybody I used to see on TV — I learned, I grew, I developed,” Ramsey reflected.

During his tenure as a WWE ID prospect, Ramsey competed in several notable matches. Fans may remember his tag team effort alongside Aaron Rourke against the duo of Tyriek Igwe & Tyson Dupont on the April 30 episode of Evolve. He also participated in the WWE ID Men’s Title Tournament, facing Jordan Oasis in a first-round match at GCW Presents ID Championship Tournament.

From Contract Celebration to New Beginnings

It was at a City Championship Wrestling event in November 2024 where Ramsey was officially presented with his WWE ID contract in what was surely one of the proudest moments of his career. The celebration of that milestone now gives way to uncertainty—but also possibility.

“Now a new chapter begins, and I’m not sure what that looks like yet, but I’m going to come into it with the same hunger that I did when I started professional wrestling,” Ramsey assured his followers.

What’s Next for Freedom Ramsey?

The independent wrestling scene is more vibrant than ever, with multiple promotions providing platforms for talents like Ramsey to showcase their abilities. His experience within the WWE development structure will likely prove valuable as he navigates the next phase of his career.

Ramsey closed his announcement with gratitude and determination: “Thank you guys for the support. Thank you for riding with me. This journey is far from over.”

With his WWE ID chapter now closed, the wrestling world will be watching closely to see where Freedom Ramsey lands next. Could we see him emerge in other major promotions looking for fresh talent, or will he double down on building his name in the independent circuit? What lessons from his WWE ID experience might shape his in-ring style moving forward?
