For the third week in a row, AEW President Tony Khan and legendary announcer Tony Schiavone appeared on IMPACT Wrestling in a ‘paid for by AEW advertisement’.
While the episode of IMPACT itself was a recap show featuring the best matches of the past year, Tony and Tony’s segment was brand new content.
The ad once again saw the two Tonies take swipes at IMPACT Wrestling and Kenny Omega, whilst plugging the following evening’s episode of AEW Dynamite.
Tony Schiavone began the segment by introducing Khan as the only pro wrestling boss who “isn’t a carny,” a thinly veiled swipe at Vince McMahon and Don Callis. Khan then wished everyone watching a Merry Christmas and plugged a few of his business ventures in Nashville, where the Tonies were recording the ad from.
Khan then mentioned the upcoming IMPACT Hard To Kill PPV, which is scheduled to feature AEW World Champion Kenny Omega alongside the IMPACT Tag Team Champions the Good Brothers (Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson). This unofficial reunion of the Bullet Club is set to take on IMPACT World Champion Rich Swann and the Motor City Machine Guns in a six-man tag match.
Most interestingly, Khan also invited any willing IMPACT talent to show up on the following night’s Dynamite.
“You want Kenny Omega here, wrestling your people? That’s fine with me. Tomorrow night, Wednesday Night Dynamite, you’re welcome to send some of your people to my show. This week. Any week.”
Tony Schiavone then plugged tonight’s Holiday Bash episode of Dynamite, which is scheduled to air after the Bucks vs Celtics NBA game and could therefore be on later than its usual 8pm slot.
Finally, Khan flexed his power by adding:
“I understand you have some tag teams here yourselves, Impact Wrestling. I might go look around and see what they’re up to, see what their contractual status is… For a company that’s hard to kill, $7 billion buys a lot of ammunition. So Impact Wrestling, let me tell you something. Kenny Omega, you’re welcome to have him at Hard To Kill. I’ll tune in, I’ll check it out, and I expect to see the AEW World Champion with his hand raised high.”
