There have been a number of reports that Discovery and WarnerMedia will be merging and that has been a cause of concern for several All Elite Wrestling fans as when these mergers happen, some of the shows that are being aired on the network that is part of the merger, which in this case is AEW programming on TNT and TBS, will get cut as the people that are in charge could decide to change things up and go in a different direction.
One particular scenario where a show or television channel had to be discontinued due to a big merger is CNN+ as after the network failed to draw the right number of subscribers to cover their production costs and the money they needed to pay their on-screen talent, who is none other than former FOX News anchor Chris Wallace, it had to be shut down.
According to Dave Meltzer on a recent Wrestling Observer Forum, fans should not be worried about what AEW’s future will be with WarnerMedia as it was mentioned that the promotion will have a big presence at the TV upfronts, which is where top advertisers and executives meet up and their agenda is to show their best available programming, which in this case is AEW programming, so that the advertisers will be able to purchase commercial time months before the television season begins.
Since WarnerMedia seems to be extremely happy and contended with All Elite Wrestling and their output on their television channels and with AEW receiving a huge push at the TV upfronts, AEW will not have a problem in the future when the time comes to negotiate a new contract.
