Tony Khan Clarifies AEW TNT Champion Rankings

All Elite Wrestling has been releasing its weekly rankings for its three divisions, women’s, tag team, and men’s since last November. These rankings come out every Wednesday just before AEW Dynamite.

Talent is listed in the rankings based on their match records. These rankings determine who is the next in line to challenge for the title in their division.

Now that AEW is introducing the TNT Championship this weekend at Double or Nothing, fans are wondering how this new title will impact the rankings. If a new division will be created because of the new belt.

AEW President Tony Khan responded to a fan on Twitter to clarify how it will work. The TNT Champion will join the AEW World Heavyweight Champion in the men’s rankings. So if you are ranking at #2, you have a chance at either title if you want.

“Good question. It’ll be a similar format, but going forward we’ll have the 2 male singles champions ranked at the top above the Top 5.”

Cody vs. Lance Archer is slated to take place in the TNT Title Tournament Finals this Saturday at Double or Nothing with the winner becoming the first-ever AEW TNT Champion. Boxing legend Mike Tyson will be in attendance to present the new belt.
