Why The AEW Tag Title Match Finish At Full Gear Was Changed

At this past Saturday’s AEW Full Gear PPV, AEW World Tag Team Champions Lucha Brothers (Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix) successfully retained their AEW World Tag Team Championships against the AAA Tag Team Champions FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood). Immediately following Full Gear, AEW President and CEO Tony Khan took part in a media scrum and revealed that Harwood was rocked during the match and he could not continue, which is why Cash Wheeler had to finish things up for him.

Fightful Select reports that Dax Harwood was either knocked out or about to be knocked out around ten minutes into the match due to a stiff shot from Rey Fenix and as a result, Dax Harwood wasn’t able to continue for the remainder of the match. Several talents have known Rey Fenix to land stiff shots for quite some time now and they were the same people that took issue with Rey not checking up on Harwood to see if he was okay once the match came to a close.

There reportedly was no heat towards Rey Fenix, but it is considered common courtesy to check on your opponent when something like that happens to them during a match. There’s no word yet on Dax’s status and when he will be medically cleared to compete, but he was supposed to be part of the finish of the match as he was supposed to be playing up the illegal man who got pinned.
