Alberto Del Rio has amassed a significant amount of success in every professional wrestling promotion he has worked in such as the WWE, in which he was a former WWE Champion and the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. He has also worked for promotions such as AAA, ROH, Lucha Underground, IMPACT and CMLL, and is the only wrestler in history to have been the WWE and WWE World Heavyweight Champion, the AAA Mega Champion, the IMPACT World Champion, the GFW Global Champion and the CMLL World Heavyweight Champion.
Del Rio was previously accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, former WWE Star Paige and has been in trouble with the law and a number of professional wrestling companies since. It was reported a number of months ago that Del Rio was telling his family and friends that he would be going back to WWE when his legal issue got cleared up as they were interested in bringing him back, but WWE has mentioned no talks about bringing Del Rio back to the company has happened.
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, a number of wrestling promotions such as WWE, MLW and IMPACT Wrestling have stated that they have no interest in signing the former multiple-time WWE Champion and that people in AEW have mentioned there was no talk of Del Rio even coming in the promotion. This was Sean Ross Sapp’s response to a Twitter user who said Del Rio will end up in a top promotion in 2022.
