A colossal announcement was made by All Elite Wrestling back in November of last year that YUKE’S has partnered with AEW to create the promotion’s first-ever console video game.
AEW EVP Kenny Omega would then reveal that the game is inspired by WWE’s No Mercy video game, Virtual Pro Wrestling, and King Of Colosseum.
YUKE’s was interviewed by Cultaholic recently to discuss the AEW console game, their partnership with AEW and much more. During the interview, YUKE’S revealed that the development of the video game began in the summer of 2020, but discussions with AEW have been happening for over a year before that.
Both sides then continued to communicate regularly since the development of the game began and they are in contact every day by email and online meetings are being held at least once a week.
It was then discussed during the interview that YUKE’S intends to create a product which encapsulates the vision of AEW World Champion Kenny Omega, who has been one of the main person behind the creation of AEW’s console video game.
This is what YUKE’s said:
“Kenny Omega’s vision is for the game be enjoyed both by fans of wrestling games, and by users who may be unfamiliar with wrestling.” “We intend to create the game with a wide perspective for an experience that effectively balances both.”
Also discussed during the interview is if AEW will release their console video game annually, but the folks from YUKE’s noted that a decision has yet to be made and ultimately it will only be made by All Elite Wrestling.
This is what YUKE’s said:
“The gaming market is constantly changing, which also affects how games are enjoyed and developed. Whether the game is released annually or new content is released as DLC will be determined by AEW while keeping a close eye on the market.”
