Jeff Cobb Was Reportedly Offered A Contract By AEW

Last Wednesday night’s episode of Dynamite saw Jeff Cobb make his much-anticipated AEW in-ring debut when he faced Jon Moxley in a one-on-one match, but would unfortunately come up short. Despite Jeff Cobb making an appearance on Dynamite and competing in a match against Jon Moxley, he is reportedly still working as a free agent.

It was also reported that Jeff Cobb’s appearance on Dynamite doesn’t mean that AEW now has a working relationship with either ROH or NJPW. Jeff Cobb was directly booked by AEW as he is reportedly free to work in any promotion he chooses to.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW President and CEO Tony Khan hadn’t met Cobb until this past week. The company reportedly offered Cobb a contract, but there is no word yet on if he is considering signing the contract as he plans to work for NJPW as much as he currently can. AEW Executive Vice President “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes has reportedly wanted to sign Jeff Cobb to a full-time deal with AEW since Cobb’s ROH contract expired this past January 1st.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter also noted that AEW’s contract offer would allow Cobb to still work for NJPW, but talks only reached up to that point. There is no word yet on what Cobb’s pay will be or the length of his contract, but information will be provided once it is made available.
