AEW Dynamite Results (03/18): Jacksonville, Florida

This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite opens up “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes standing in the middle of the ring. He starts his in-ring promo by addressing the current worldwide situation and says that we as human beings have to stand together, and for now, that means at a distance.

The camera then shows the empty arena. Cody says that he refuses to live in a prison of fear, he feels alive and he hopes that the fans at home feel the same. Cody then talks about his fellow stablemates. He tells Matt Jackson that his anger towards Hangman Page is misplaced. Cody then says that Matt Jackson needs to carry Nick Jackson’s giant heart so The Elite can get the advantage at Blood And Guts. Cody then moves on to Hangman Page and notes that he has said over and over that Page is the best wrestler in the company. Cody then tells Page that he lost to Jericho for the title, so did Cody, and it is time to get over it and be the reason The Elite wins at Blood And Guts. Cody then talks about Kenny Omega, how they are friends, but constantly banter about who’s “1a” and “1b.” Cody then says that he needs Omega, he needs the “real” Omega tonight, the “Best Bout Machine.” Matt Jackson and Kenny Omega then make their way out to the ring, Cody holds the ropes open for them.

Omega then takes the mic and says that he agrees he and Cody haven’t seen eye to eye, but here they are. Omega then says that the world is falling apart and they don’t even know if they will have Dynamite next week, but if it’s up to him they want to go out, the same way they came in, as The Elite. Matt Jackson then gets on the mic and says that it is just the three of them in the ring, where is Page? Nick Jackson is out indefinitely, where is Page? Hangman Page finally makes his way out with a drink, but stays on the stage.

Matt Jackson then says that he knows things have been weird lately, but he is asking Page, as a man, will Page stand with them tonight and next week. Page nods and gives them cheers, then heads to the back. Omega then talks to the camera and says that he knows they are out there and can feel their energy, so all they can do is give them the best possible show. Omega then calls for the lights and pyro (they go off) and the Dynamite music plays.

Jim Ross, Taz and Excalibur are on commentary for tonight’s show. They run down tonight’s matches. It will be Cody, Matt Jackson and Hangman Page vs. Jake Hager, Santana and Ortiz in tonight’s main event matchup.

MJF is then interviewed by Tony Schiavone at ringside. Schiavone asks MJF about tonight. MJF says that he was offered money to wrestle tonight, but he’ll pass and let the mid-card entertain tonight. Apparently, he and Shawn Spears are gambling on tonight’s matches. MJF then asks Tony if he wants to get in on the action.

Brandi Rhodes is in the middle of the ring doing commentary duties tonight as Justin Roberts is not on the show.

A number of wrestlers are shown watching at ringside. Those wrestlers are Colt Cabana, Sonny Kiss, Frankie Kazarian, MJF, Wardlow, Shawn Spears and many others.

Orange Cassidy joins the commentary booth for the first match of the evening.

We then get the entrances for the first match of the evening.

Lucha Brothers (Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix) def. Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent) via pinfall with a stomp-assisted package piledriver on Trent. After the match, Tony Schiavone talks with Best Friends. Taylor doesn’t appreciate his friend getting kicked between the legs and wants a rematch. They then challenge The Lucha Brothers to a Parking Lot Street Fight on next week’s show.

Penelope Ford and Riho then make their entrances and we go to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and the next match of the evening is underway.

Hikaru Shida def. Kris Statlander, Penelope Ford and Riho via pinfall with a sliding knee on Penelope Ford.

We then head back to ringside where Tony Schiavone talks with Colt Cabana. Cabana notes that he is currently 2-0. Schiavone then asks Colt Cabana if he is a scout. Colt says that this is weird, but he is scouting for sure. Colt then says that the women’s division is looking great and he is pretty sure none of them will bite him (reference to Shayna Baszler biting Becky Lynch). Colt then thought that the match was great and thought that Ford did a great job and would have maybe won if she didn’t have her boyfriend getting involved so much. Sabian is still at ringside and comes over, asking if Colt wants to go, then shoves him. Colt then tries to laugh it off, gets shoved again and then slaps Sabian. Sabian then goes back to Ford and helps her to the back.

We then go to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and we get a parking lot interview with Jon Moxley and Tony Schiavone, where we find out that Moxley isn’t medically cleared for in-ring action, which means that he can not enter the building.

Moxley says that he goes where he likes and can’t believe that he is not allowed to enter. Moxley then says that instead of causing chaos, he is going to take a little drive (using the car he took from the Inner Circle). Moxley then says that he will see the Inner Circle soon and wouldn’t miss Blood And Guts for the world.

We then get the entrances for the next match of the evening.

Jurassic Express (“Jungle Boy” Jack Perry and Luchasaurus) def. The Butcher and The Blade (Andy Williams and Pepper Parks) via pinfall with a Tombstone lift into an Ace Crusher on Pepper Parks.

We then go to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and The Dark Order make their way down to the ring.

Evil Uno says that the Exalted One is near and the rest of the members will see what he has seen. Uno then says that he promised the Exalted One is near and he never lies. Uno then says that The Exalted One is near a couple of times. Frankie Kazarian and Christopher Daniels then come to the ring. Daniels tells them to stop and that he is tired of the lies. Daniels then says that the Dark Order hasn’t made anyone any better and that he is sick of it. Daniels then says that there is no Exalted One, it’s just Grayson and Uno.

Music begins playing. Via video, a masked man walks forward. The masked man says, “We do what we want, when we want, if I want something, I take it.” He then removes the mask and it is none other than Brodie Lee. (Luke Harper!). Lee says that Daniels is unsafe now thanks to all of his talking. Lee then says, “You are not the first, out of touch old man who didn’t believe in me, but I’ll make damn sure you are the last.” Back in the ring, Lee is behind Daniels and Kazarian. Lee, Uno and Grayson then attack the two guys. John Silver and Alex Reynolds then get in the ring. Uno then yells, “Who are you?” The rest then yell, “We are one!” as Lee stands at the front of the pack. He then walks to the back. They all then stand tall as we go to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and we are at ringside where Tony Schiavone interviews Jake “The Snake” Roberts and Lance Archer.

Tony Schiavone asks why they are there at ringside for two weeks in a row. Roberts says that Archer is not here to talk. Roberts then says that he gave Cody a warning, but Cody hasn’t said a thing. Roberts then continues and says that they don’t play games. Roberts then says that he understands Cody wanting to stay out of harm’s way, but to ignore them completely. Roberts then says that he isn’t okay with that. Roberts then tells Cody that it is time for him to stand up and meet Archer. Roberts then says that Cody had a chance to meet them, but now he is going to have to get Cody’s attention.

We then get a video vignette of Lance Archer at the Murderhawk Mansion. We see a ring out back with a bunch of people surrounding it. A ring announcer says who is ready to “try or die” against Archer. Archer then gets into the ring and his first opponent tries him, but gets completely destroyed and chokeslammed out of the ring. Another guy then gets in, takes a big boot and is planted to the mat. The opponents get bigger and bigger, but it doesn’t matter as they each get taken out. Jake Roberts watches from a distance. Archer then ends up taking out everyone in the ring, along with a final challenger who he chokeslams on the hood of a car.

Commentary then announces Wardlow vs. Luchasaurus in a Lumberjack Match and confirms Lucha Brothers vs. Best Friends in a Street Fight in the parking lot for next week.

The Inner Circle then make their entrance for the main event of the evening and we go to a commercial break.

Back from the commercial break and Chris Jericho makes his entrance and Sammy Guevara sings Judas to liven up Jericho’s entrance, but he doesn’t fully know the words.

Chris Jericho then joins the commentary booth and the main event of the evening is underway.

The Inner Circle (Jake Hager, Santana and Ortiz) def. The Elite (“Hangman” Adam Page, Cody Rhodes and Matt Jackson) via pinfall with a victory roll from Santana on Matt Jackson, gaining the advantage heading into Blood And Guts. After the match, The Inner Circle celebrate together on stage. Jericho then grabs the mic and says that they have all the advantages. Jericho then says that he is banning all fans from events until he says so. He doesn’t care what’s going on the world, they are gone until he says so. Jericho then taunts The Elite that they only have four guys, while the Inner Circle have five guys. Jericho then continues that The Elite doesn’t stand a chance. Jericho then says that the Inner Circle just wins, they haven’t shown a crack as a group. Jericho then says, “when it comes time” for Blood And Guts. Jericho then calls out Brandi and Dustin Rhodes. A drone then suddenly flies above the ring, it’s Vanguard 1. Matt Jackson then gets on the mic and says that Jericho was wrong about how many guys The Elite have. Matt Jackson then says that he made a phone call to a friend who owed him a favor. Up in the rafters it’s none other than Matt Hardy. The Inner Circle then looks on as Matt Hardy does his “Delete” taunt as the show comes to a close.
