Ratings for the Wednesday, July 22nd, 2020 addition of AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT were released Thursday. According to a report by Showbuzz Daily, AEW finishing 5th overall for the night, WWE NXT finished 35th.
AEW drew 845,000 viewers way up from last week’s 788,000 viewers. They finished 5th overall also last week. Dynamite was taped this week at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville Florida. This is the highest COVID era rating since March 18th when they scored 932,000 viewers with a (0.35) in the key demo
This episode had a buzz online because Jon Moxley was on ESPN radio hyping up the show, plus wrestlers were saying it was a can’t miss AEW Dynamite.
NXT drew 615,000 viewers down from last week’s 631,000 viewers. It finished 35th overall, up from last week’s 49th overall. The show featured Keith Lee relinquishing The North American Championship.
The total combined wrestling audience for both shows was up to 1.460 million viewers. It was at 1.419 million viewers last week. It looks like NXT still lost its audience from last week. Without main roster talent on the show, it struggles in the ratings.
Based on the ratings, two news programs were in the top 5 shows. News accounted for 8 shows in the top 15 this week, which is usually the number. MTV’s Challenge: Total Madness was first for the night. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills took 2nd.
