Former WWE NXT star Priscilla Kelly made her highly anticipated return to independent wrestling following her May release, but her comeback match at Pro Wrestling REVOLVER ended before it truly began. What initially appeared to be a concerning injury turned out to be a lifelong anatomical condition that the former Gigi Dolin has been managing throughout her career.

Mixed Emotions at Cage of Horrors 4

Wrestling fans packed the venue in Clive, Iowa, eager to see Kelly’s first match as a free agent. The unique booking saw her facing off against her real-life fiancé Zachary Wentz at REVOLVER’s Cage of Horrors 4 event.

However, the highly anticipated contest came to an abrupt halt when Kelly went down with what appeared to be a knee problem. The match was ruled a no contest, leaving the crowd and online wrestling community concerned about the severity of the situation.

Kelly Explains the Medical Reality

Rather than leave fans wondering about her condition, Kelly quickly took to social media to provide clarity. Her explanation revealed a chronic issue she’s been dealing with since childhood.

“My patella came out of place. It does that from time to time. It’s an anatomy issue I’ve had my whole life, and I’ve managed to always work through it, even sometimes continuing matches after it happens.”

The former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion emphasized that this wasn’t a traditional wrestling injury. Instead, it’s a recurring anatomical problem where her kneecap dislocates and requires manual repositioning.

A Warrior’s Mindset

Kelly’s follow-up comments showcased the toughness that helped her succeed in WWE’s developmental brand. She revealed that she’s previously worked through this exact same issue during matches.

“It’s not an ‘injury’, it just hurts a good bit and I have to ‘pop’ it back in place. Now ya know. Sorry, guys.”

No Plans to Slow Down

Despite the setback in Iowa, Kelly confirmed her commitment to her upcoming bookings. She assured fans that her scheduled match against AEW’s Robyn Renegade at Atlanta Wrestling Entertainment on Saturday, June 21, remains on track.

This quick turnaround demonstrates Kelly’s determination to establish herself on the independent scene following her WWE departure. Her transparency about the medical condition also shows a level of professionalism that should reassure promoters about booking her going forward.

Building Momentum Post-WWE

Kelly’s transition from WWE’s structured environment to the independent wrestling circuit represents a significant career shift. Her pairing with Wentz at REVOLVER created natural storyline intrigue, even if the match couldn’t reach its intended conclusion.

The wrestling world will be watching closely as Kelly continues her independent run, especially given her proven track record in NXT’s tag team division. Will her chronic kneecap condition become a recurring obstacle, or can she find ways to work around this anatomical challenge as she builds her post-WWE legacy?
