The innovative Japanese women’s wrestling promotion Sukeban is set to make waves once again in the United States, bringing their unique blend of professional wrestling and multimedia entertainment back to Los Angeles this summer. This marks a significant milestone as the first time the promotion has returned to a previously visited city in their brief but impactful history.

Championship Gold on the Line at Anime Expo

According to a press release obtained by PWInsider, Sukeban has locked in July 5, 2025, for their highly anticipated return to the City of Angels. The event will unfold at the prestigious Anime Expo Convention, creating a perfect storm of wrestling action and Japanese pop culture.

Current Sukeban World Champion Sareee Bomb will put her title on the line during the main event, though her challenger remains shrouded in mystery. The champion won’t be flying solo, as her Cherry Bomb Girls stablemates are also confirmed to make live appearances throughout the show.

Multimedia Experience Takes Center Stage

True to Sukeban’s signature style, this won’t be your typical wrestling show. The promotion plans to transform the main entrance of Anime Expo into an immersive fan experience that runs from July 3-6, coinciding with the entire convention schedule.

Wrestling fans and anime enthusiasts alike can expect exclusive artwork from renowned artist TUESDAY, created specifically for this cross-cultural celebration. Limited edition merchandise featuring TUESDAY’s designs will be available, along with special live music performances and celebrity cameos woven throughout the event.

Outdoor Arena Construction Underway

Perhaps most impressive is Sukeban’s ambitious plan to construct a special outdoor arena directly outside the Los Angeles Convention Center. This temporary venue will serve as the battleground for the July 5 main event, bringing professional wrestling into the heart of one of anime culture’s biggest celebrations.

Roster Revelations and New Arrivals

The promotion has confirmed that the vast majority of their roster will make the trip to Los Angeles, including the legendary Bull Nakano, who serves as Sukeban’s commissioner. Nakano’s presence adds serious credibility and star power to an already stacked lineup.

Adding another layer of intrigue, Sukeban has teased the debut of a brand new stable at the Anime Expo event. This fresh faction could shake up the promotion’s landscape and provide new storylines heading into the summer months.

Global Expansion Continues

This Los Angeles return represents more than just another show for Sukeban—it’s proof of their growing international footprint. Over the past two years, the promotion has successfully staged events across major markets including New York, Miami, London, and Berlin.

The fact that they’re circling back to Los Angeles suggests strong fan support and the potential for establishing regular touring circuits. With tickets already on sale, early indicators point to another sold-out success for the multimedia wrestling experience.

As Sukeban continues to blur the lines between professional wrestling and Japanese pop culture, their Anime Expo appearance could set the template for future entertainment ventures. Will this unique fusion of wrestling and anime culture inspire other promotions to think outside the traditional wrestling box?
