Backstage News On USA Network’s Reaction To Changes In WWE

Triple H recently took over the WWE’s creative and since then a lot of big changes have happened such as several former WWE Stars being brought back, an improvement in the storylines including booking of the matches and the characters and professional wrestling fans being excited again. The first episode of WWE Monday Night RAW Triple H had 100% of control over was able to draw 2.2 million viewers, which was the highest ratings the show did in over two years and there has been a huge improvement in other weekly WWE shows as well.

Fightful Select reports that they have had talks with several USA Network and Universal sources about the changes in the WWE as of late, with one longtime employee even stating that this was more in line with the company’s expected numbers when they extended WWE RAW’s deal prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. The same source also noted that they never really imagined WWE RAW having less than 2 million viewers outside of the holidays and the last few weeks were a real test for the WWE, but the results from the first WWE Monday Night RAW with Triple H in charge got him very excited.

The same source then noted that they didn’t expect WWE RAW to get over 2 million viewers, which would happen just recently and the show has felt more natural than before. A USA Network employee then said that the relationship between the WWE and the network has been easy-going and many people were really happy to see the creative changes that were recently implemented by Triple H. This employee also said WWE has put themselves in a better position than they were a month prior and he would be surprised if the USA Network does not renew WWE’s programming once their deal expires next year.
