BREAKING News, folks! In an unsurprising sweep, Pro Wrestling Illustrated (PWI) places Seth Rollins in the numero uno spot of their prestigious PWI 500 List for this year. Rollins’ rise to pro wrestling glory isn’t a new phenomenon as the year 2023 marks the second time the high-flying superman is clinching the top spot, having previously snatched it in 2019.
This year’s ranking doesn’t pull out too many shocks, with most fans anticipating Rollins’ ascend. The evaluation period spanned from July 1, 2022, to July 31, 2023, and wrestlers were assessed according to win-loss records, technical prowess, impact on the sport, success against quality competition, diversity of triumphs, and vivacity in the ring.
Following closely behind Rollins are wrestling titans like Roman Reigns, Jon Moxley, and Gunther, to name a few. As wrestling organizations go, WWE managed to stuff the most number of stars in PWI’s Top 10, mastering the list with four wrestlers. AEW trailed behind with three, while New Japan Pro Wrestling, Lucha Libre AAA, and Impact Wrestling each tossed one hat in the ring.
2023’s top ten list reads like a who’s who of international wrestling stardom: Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Jon Moxley, Gunther, El Hijo del Vikingo, MJF, Kazuchika Okada, Orange Cassidy, Josh Alexander, and Cody Rhodes.
It seems Rollins isn’t one to shrug off the glory, sharing a reminiscent image of The Shield engaging in a signature fist bump on Twitter, symbolizing the trio’s feat – Rollins, Reigns, and Moxley have all had the honor of topping PWI’s Top 500 List in recent years.
