While betting odds favor Seth Rollins to capture tomorrow’s Men’s Money in the Bank ladder match, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray believes another superstar’s career hangs in the balance. According to the wrestling veteran, LA Knight faces a make-or-break moment that could determine his future trajectory in WWE.
The Charismatic Enigma’s Career Crossroads
Speaking on “Busted Open Radio,” Bully Ray didn’t mince words about Knight’s current position. The wrestling legend emphasized that despite the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion being the bookmakers’ choice, Knight carries far more urgency into this career-defining match.
“There is a person in this match who needs a victory like this, LA Knight,”
Ray’s assessment gained immediate support from co-host Tommy Dreamer, who painted an even starker picture. Dreamer suggested Knight would be “dead in the water” without securing the coveted briefcase, a sentiment that Ray wholeheartedly endorsed.
“That’s the truth of things right now. Can’t sit here and be like ‘Oh, everything’s so great.'”
Potential Booking Roadmap Following Victory
The wrestling veteran outlined WWE’s possible creative direction if Knight emerges victorious. Ray drew parallels to last year’s Miss Money in the Bank winner, suggesting a similar storytelling approach could work wonders for the “Megastar.”
According to Ray’s vision, Knight’s victory would create compelling television through the buildup to his eventual cash-in. The anticipation and weekly programming surrounding when and how he might strike could generate significant audience engagement.
Character Development Concerns
However, Ray also identified potential long-term challenges with Knight’s character arc. The Hall of Famer expressed concerns about the superstar’s depth beyond his charismatic persona and catchphrases.
“I think an LA Knight victory could be very similar to a Tiffany Stratton victory, in which the victory is a big deal, the story, the episodic television leading up to an eventual cash-in can be very entertaining. The actual cash-in can be very entertaining, but then after that, because there’s not a lot of depth to LA Knight right now, you’ve gotten everything that you could get out of him at this moment. That’s how I look at his character right now, the depth of the character.”
Third Time’s the Charm?
Tomorrow’s ladder match represents Knight’s third consecutive appearance in the Men’s Money in the Bank bout. His previous attempts ended in disappointment as Drew McIntyre climbed to victory in one year, followed by Damian Priest’s successful capture the following year.
The track record of recent winners tells an interesting story. While Priest successfully cashed in his briefcase to capture championship gold, McIntyre’s opportunity was dramatically thwarted by his bitter rival CM Punk, proving that winning the briefcase doesn’t guarantee ultimate success.
Knight faces stiff competition from a loaded field including Seth Rollins, Penta, Solo Sikoa, El Grande Americano, and Andrade. Each competitor brings their own compelling case for victory, but none carry the same career urgency that surrounds the “Megastar.”
Will LA Knight finally breakthrough and secure his first Money in the Bank briefcase, or will another year of ladder match heartbreak leave him scrambling for relevance? The answer could reshape WWE’s landscape for months to come.
