AEW President and CEO Tony Khan recently appeared on Busted Open Radio, where he talked about the All Out PPV Event and how it garnered over 200,000 PPV buys as well as this past Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite episode and how it was the #1 wrestling show on cable this week. Tony Khan also talked about the huge milestone for AEW and how it has been a pretty special week for AEW.
This is what Tony Khan said:
“It’s huge and it’s all because of the great fans of AEW, and the great staff of AEW, and our awesome wrestlers.” “We have worked really hard and I think to finally be able to say that we had the #1 wrestling show on cable for the week, in the entire world of wrestling, is pretty amazing. We’ve been the #1 show now on Wednesday night, and that was one of our biggest goals when we set out, was to win our timeslot, win our night, but certainly this is a big milestone. It’s the biggest audience that we’ve had since our debut, and it really shows how far we’ve come. It shows how big the audience for wrestling is right now, and last week was a great week for us, too. I think we’ve really been doing some great stuff on Friday nights, too.”
“So, a lot of big news in AEW. It’s great to be able to tell you guys that our pay-per-view did well over 200,000 buys, which is a big milestone that nobody has hit in this country for a long time. So, it’s a pretty special week for AEW.”
Tony Khan then praised Ruby Soho and talked about what type of a professional talent she really is.
This is what Tony Khan said:
“I just have to say what an organized, intelligent, competent and professional Ruby Soho is. She was really well prepared and she had notes on everyone in the match. She knew what she was doing. I thought ‘wow this is a really hard working person’ and also just a really good person who really has a lot of integrity and a lot of pride in what they do but she interacted really well with everyone. She interacted really well with everyone. It was her first day at AEW and she really really is a great fit. Her Dynamite debut was tremendous…”
It should be noted that the initially reported 200,000 All Out PPV buys are not yet the final PPV buy numbers for All Out and that there are numbers from PPV providers that still have to be calculated as well as tallied and factored in, which means that the 200,000 PPV buy number will still increase. The 2021 Revolution PPV drew an estimated 135,000 PPV buys, while the 2021 Double Or Nothing PPV was able to draw an estimated 115,000 PPV buys.
