AEW Announces Return Of Blood And Guts Match For June 29th

Last night’s episode of AEW Dynamite, which is the fallout show of Sunday’s AEW Double Or Nothing PPV Event, saw The Jericho Appreciation Society make their way down to the ring to celebrate their win in The Anarchy In The Arena Match over the Blackpool Combat Club’s Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson, Eddie Kingston, Santana and Ortiz. Chris Jericho, the leader of the J.A.S., was then interrupted by William Regal and Eddie Kingston and Regal uttered the words “blood and guts,” which got a huge reaction from the fans in attendance.

Jericho would initially refuse to partake in the Blood And Guts Match until he was attacked by Ortiz, who cut a little bit of The Wizard’s hair with a pair of scissors. The Wizard then accepted the Blood and Guts Match, but first challenged Ortiz to a Hair vs. Hair Match set to take place on the AEW Road Rager special episode on June 15th in St. Louis, Missouri.

Since then, the Blood And Guts Match has been announced to take place on the June 29th episode of AEW Dynamite, which is just three days after the AEW and NJPW Forbidden Door Event and the match has been set to emanate from the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan. The second Blood And Guts Match is set to feature the same 10 wrestlers who competed in the Anarchy In The Arena Match last Sunday night and that is the Jericho Appreciation Society’s “The Wizard” Chris Jericho, Jake Hager, Daniel Garcia, Angelo Parker and Matt Menard battling Eddie Kingston, Santana, Ortiz and the Blackpool Combat Club’s Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson.

The first-ever AEW Blood And Guts Match took place on the May 5, 2021 episode of AEW Dynamite between The Pinnacle (MJF, Wardlow, Shawn Spears and FTR) vs. The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, Jake Hager, Santana and Ortiz) and that match saw The Pinnacle defeat The Inner Circle.
