This past Sunday, March 27, All Elite Wrestling filed to trademark the “Blood & Guts” Match name with the USPTO (the United States Patent and Trademark Office) for numerous purposes, including live video streaming of PPVs on the internet, entertainment services, retail store services, merchandising, toys and downloadable ring tones. The company was set to hold their first-ever “Blood & Guts” Match on the month of March in 2020, but the match was pushed back a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
After being delayed for over a year, the company’s first-ever “Blood & Guts” Match finally took place on the May 5, 2021 episode of AEW Dynamite, where The Pinnacle (MJF, Cash Wheeler, Dax Harwood, Shawn Spears and Wardlow) would come out on top of The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, Santana, Ortiz and Jake Hager). It is believed that AEW is planning to hold their second “Blood & Guts” Match, but there is no word yet on when the match will take place or at what event.
Below are the use descriptions AEW submitted to the USPTO, along with clips from the inaugural match:
