Last Wednesday, July 20th, All Elite Wrestling filed to trademark the “Blackpool Combat Club” name as well as the faction’s logo with the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) for merchandise and entertainment purposes. The Blackpool Combat Club is recognized as one of, if not the most brutal and dominant factions in all of AEW. The Blackpool Combat Club group was first teased on the February 2nd episode of AEW Dynamite after Jon Moxley defeated Wheeler Yuta in Singles action as shortly after the match Bryan Danielson proposed to Jon Moxley that they should be teaming up and fighting together rather than against each other. The feud between Moxley and Danielson would continue for several more weeks until William Regal made his AEW debut at the 2022 AEW Revolution Event and slapped both Moxley and Danielson before making them shake each other’s hands.
Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson would then compete in their first-ever match together as a team and as members of the Blackpool Combat Club on the March 9 episode of AEW Dynamite when they went up against and defeated The WorkHorsemen’s Anthony Henry and JD Drake. During the April 8th AEW Rampage, Wheeler Yuta would then be added to the stable after he was defeated by Jon Moxley in an extremely brutal and physical match as William Regal welcomed him to the group and shook his hands. The Forbidden Door PPV Event would then see the latest member of the Blackpool Combat Club in Claudio Castagnoli be added to the faction and since then, they have been one of the most successful factions in AEW.
The Blackpool Combat Club is comprised of ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli, Bryan Danielson, ROH Pure Champion Wheeler Yuta, Interim AEW World Champion Jon Moxley and wrestling legend William Regal.
