AEW Says Awesome Kong May Not Return Due To Attack On Dark

Last night’s episode of AEW Dark saw Hikaru Shida defeat Melanie Cruise of the Nightmare Collective in a Women’s Division Singles Match. Despite interference from other members of the Nightmare Collective (Luther and Awesome Kong), Melanie Cruise still couldn’t get the job done.

After the match, Kong got extremely furious that Melanie Cruise still lost. Melanie Cruise would start by shoving Kong. Luther would then hold on to Kong, while Melanie Cruise would nail her with some strikes. Melanie Cruise would then whip Kong through the barricade. The attack would then continue with Melanie Cruise landing a leg drop on Kong after Luther set her up on the steel stairs.

Due to the attack on Kong, All Elite Wrestling would take to Twitter and announce that she suffered “serious injuries” and may not return to in-ring action. There is no word yet why AEW wrote Awesome Kong off of TV, but it is believed that it was done so that she can film the final season of GLOW on Netflix, although that has yet to be confirmed.
