AEW Star Kip Sabian Possibly Working On A New Gimmick

On an episode of AEW Dynamite last April, Kip Sabian had a run-in with his former tag partner and the current AEW TNT Champion Miro in a backstage segment, where Kip was brutally beaten down by Miro. The AEW TNT Champion would then slam a metal door on Sabian’s wrist, which would lead to Kip screaming in pain. The segment would then end with Miro hugging Sabian and telling him, “I forgive you.”

It was reported at the time that the segment was done as a way to write Kip off of AEW TV as Kip took to his Twitter and revealed that he will need to undergo surgery as he has been dealing with injuries since last December and the promotion used the backstage segment of Miro attacking Sabian as a way to keep him out of AEW TV.

Kip Sabian took to his Twitter last May and revealed that the surgery he had on his injured arm was a success and it seems that he is now on his way back to AEW as Sabian posted a picture on social media of him possibly working on a new gimmick for his return. Kip Sabian posted a photo of himself wearing a suit and a box on top of his head with the words, “underrated, over it” written on the box. There’s also a sand timer on the side of the box and a caption that says, “Time doesn’t heal…It changes you…”

During this weekend’s AEW All Out Fan Fest, Kip took part in an unadvertised meet and greet with fans and he even scribbled different messages on his 8×10 photos, with majority of the pictures having his face scratched out and the phrase “no” as to indicate that he is close to debuting his new character. During his interaction with the fans who approached him, it didn’t even sound like it was Kip talking to them.

Sabian last competed for AEW on the March 24th episode of Dynamite, where he and Miro lost the Arcade Anarchy Match to Chuck Taylor and Orange Cassidy. There is no word yet on how long Sabian will be out of action, but updates will be provided as it becomes available.
