Thunder Rosa, who won the AEW Women’s World Championship after defeating Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. in a Steel Cage Match during the St. Patrick’s Day Slam episode of AEW Dynamite, has been put on the shelf for quite sometime now due to a devastating back injury and it was revealed at the time that she will not be medically cleared to defend the title at AEW’s All Out PPV Event. It was also revealed that an Interim AEW Women’s World Title Match will take place at the All Out PPV between Jamie Hayter, Hikaru Shida, Toni Storm and Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D., which was ultimately won by Toni Storm.
Jamie Hayter then challenged Toni Storm for the Interim AEW Women’s World Title at Full Gear and came out of the match as the new Interim AEW Women’s World Champion. Thunder would then relinquish the AEW Women’s World Championship on the November 23rd episode of AEW Dynamite and this would make Jamie the the official AEW Women’s World Champion.
Rosa recently released a new vlog on her YouTube channel, in which she provided an update on the back injury she suffered that forced her to take time away from AEW in-ring action. According to Rosa, she has started to lift weights once again and 2023 will be a huge year for her and she started to run as well. It has been speculated that Rosa could end up as the mystery partner of Saraya against reigning AEW Women’s World Champion Jamie Hayter and Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. on the January 11th, 2023 episode of AEW Dynamite. Dave Meltzer noted on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the last word he heard was Rosa hoped she will be back by February, but there is no word yet on if she is set to return sooner than she had hoped, though updates will be given as soon as it’s made available.
