AEW To Introduce A New Women’s Championship Soon

According to Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Pro Wrestling podcast, there have been a few rumblings that a brand-new championship title will soon be introduced by All Elite Wrestling. Zarian also noted that the title that is expected to be introduced soon is a secondary Women’s Title as the women’s division in AEW has grown in the past year or so and there has been an increase of tag team matches across all shows in the women’s division so it would make perfect sense to introduce AEW Women’s Tag Team Titles as it will give the other wrestlers in the women’s division a chance to fight for championship gold.

The storyline in the women’s division currently revolves around Dr. Britt Baker’s Women’s World Title and other singles competitors in the division. Baker retained her title against Ruby Soho during last night’s Grand Slam episode of Dynamite and it seems that Britt Baker could have a new challenger, but there are women in the division that could be left out and be overlooked at and if a Women’s Tag Team Title was introduced, then more women will have an opportunity to be part of the storylines and fight for championships.

There is no word yet on when the new championship titles will be introduced or what the name will be, but updates will be provided once it becomes available. Zarian used the #TNT and #TBS hashtags on his tweets and was asked by a fan if the #TBS hashtag was a hint on when the titles will be introduced as AEW Dynamite and AEW Rampage are set to begin airing on TBT in early 2022 and Zarian responded with a smiley emoji.

On a related note, there have been rumors and speculations that AEW will be introducing Trios Titles, but it looks like the Women’s Tag Team Titles will be introduced first.
