Backstage News On FTR’s Current Contracts With AEW

WWE is reportedly interested in bringing top AEW Stars FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) back in the company sometime in the near future once their current contract with All Elite Wrestling is up, which will be this summer, but with AEW having the option to pick up their contracts for another year, that is believed to be what AEW President and CEO Tony Khan will do with the current AAA and ROH World Tag Team Champions.

Fightful Select reports that their initial news of FTR’s current AEW contract expiring this summer is not accurate as FTR still has more than one year left on their current AEW contracts, which means the current AAA and ROH World Tag Team Champions will remain under contract to All Elite Wrestling for at least one more year and if their contracts will be picked up, then that will be an additional year.

Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler signed with the WWE in 2012 and 2014 respectively, after which they made their WWE main roster debut on the April 3 episode of WWE RAW, when the defeated The New Day. FTR won the WWE RAW Tag Team Titles two times, the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Titles one time and the WWE NXT Tag Team Titles two times prior to being granted their WWE releases on April 10th, 2020. FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) would also become the first-ever WWE Tag Team Triple Crown Champions and were voted NXT Tag Team of the Year in 2016.

There is no word yet on if FTR is interested in returning to the WWE in the future once their current AEW contract expires and once they are legally able to. For the time being, WWE is unable to approach FTR directly as they are still under contract to AEW, but it could only be a matter of time when Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood becomes a free agent and is approached by the WWE to return to the promotion.
