Chris Jericho Talks CM Punk Possibly Signing With AEW

There have been reports that former WWE Star CM Punk has been having serious talks of possibly making a return to wrestling and he has been rumored to be in talks with AEW officials for an in-ring return on the First Dance special episode of AEW Rampage on August 20th, which is set to take place from the United Center in Chicago, the hometown of CM Punk.

Top AEW Star Chris Jericho recently spoke with Kenny McIntosh of Inside The Ropes on CM Punk possibly joining AEW as well as if he personally would like to see Punk in AEW.

This is what Chris Jericho said:

“Well, I mean, the short answer is, ‘Of course.’ I mean, he’s one of the few guys out there that has has this mythology surrounding him because he hasn’t wrestled so long.”

Chris Jericho also talked about how much buzz they already have and how much more buzz would be added if Punk does debut on the show as well as how more than 12,000 tickets have already been sold despite no name or match being confirmed yet.

This is what Chris Jericho said:

“So, it would create a huge buzz that would add to the already huge buzz that we have.” “And I think just the fact that 12,000 tickets sold at the United Center without one name even being announced, or one match even being announced, shows just how much anticipation there is for all of these things. So, yeah, we’ll see what happens.”

Chris Jericho then talked about not knowing anything about if CM Punk will join AEW, but that AEW has great momentum even without Punk and they will continue to have great momentum with or without Punk.

This is what Chris Jericho said:

“And I honestly, really don’t know. It’s something that I know nothing about.” “Obviously, it’s intriguing and I’ll be watching along with everybody else to see what happens. But we’ve got great momentum without Punk and we’ll have great momentum continuing without him, and great momentum with him if he shows up. So either way, I think we’ve built ourselves up into a great position right now.”
