CM Punk is a superstar marred with situations that have always put him and the business he works with in hot water. It can be WWE, UFC or in recent memory, All Elite Wrestling. AEW is a three-year-old business that is trying to hire every ex-WWE superstar.
The company headed by Tony Khan knows nothing else but just to be in controversy and botches list all year long. It could be a controversy involving Sammy Guevara’s words on Sasha Banks or Eddie Kingston and The Spanish God’s bout. It’s funny that these controversies have kept the company in the news.
It’s either these or a debut on the AEW roster by an ex-WWE superstar. It’s funny to know that Tony Khan would consider this a mark of success when it is a hashed-out component from a company that’s been in the business for a considerable time. He recently spoke with BT Sport’s Ariel Helwani about the controversy that ensued following AEW All Out.
CM Punk took aim at The Young Bucks, Hangman Adam Page, MJF, and his former friend Colt Cabana with explosive remarks. This led to him being confronted backstage in his locker room by The Bucks where a fight broke out.
Several stars and backstage personnel were suspended but now Punk, his friend and AEW producer Ace Steel, The Young Bucks, and Kenny Omega are the only ones that are believed to still be under suspension for what happened. Here’s what Tony Khan told Helwani:
I’ll come in with an outline and I’ll sit down with Tony Schiavone, QT [Marshall], a couple of people backstage, Sonjay [Dutt] has become really valuable. Then there’s a lot of people throughout the years that you’d go to whatever their stuff is.”
“I think there’s specific people even if they’re not working in an office job per se like a Chris Jericho, Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley. And of course, even people who are working in office jobs like Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, and CM Punk.
