The professional wrestling industry has become even more bigger and better than before and the number one factor that contributed to that achievement and accomplishment is the returns of legends and Hall of Famers as well as top calibre stars to the ring. One of those returns is when CM Punk made his AEW debut on the First Dance special episode of AEW Rampage in Chicago, which is the first time Punk made an appearance in over 7 years.
Shortly after CM Punk made his return to pro wrestling, fans have began to speculate and wonder if CM Punk’s wife, former WWE Star AJ Lee (AJ Mendez) will be making her return to pro wrestling as well as she has not wrestled since she retired from in-ring action back in 2015 due to neck issues. According to AJ Lee, she made the decision to retire from pro wrestling due to permanent damage to her cervical spine and because she had already fulfilled all the goals she set out to do in pro wrestling. AJ also revealed that she was caught in the middle of the issues between her husband CM Punk and WWE after he left the company back in 2014.
CM Punk recently spoke with Joseph Staszewski of The New York Post, where he addressed the rumors and speculations of his wife, AJ Lee, possibly making her return to pro wrestling. According to Punk, his wife, AJ Lee, will not be returning to wrestling because she has a bad neck and that’s the reason why she stopped wrestling in the first place. Punk also said he wouldn’t want AJ to jeopardize her health and neither would she, so we’ll just put an end to that rumor right now.
This is what CM Punk said:
“I just want to say, no.” “Just because [of] her neck. The reason she stopped wrestling is because of her neck. She’s got a bad neck, you know. I wouldn’t want her to jeopardize [her] health and neither would she, so we’ll put an end to that rumor right now.”
AJ Lee is a former three-time WWE Divas Champion as well as a three-time Slammy Award winner. AJ last competed inside the squared circle on the March 30th, 2015 episode of RAW, when she teamed with Naomi and Paige to defeat WWE Hall of Famers The Bellas and current WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Natalya.
