Cody Rhodes Not Afraid to Defy Convention

All Elite Wrestling main eventer Cody Rhodes on Monday commented on his Fyter Fest showcase match with Darby Allin.

Rhodes tweeted that he received suggestions he should avoid another high-profile match so close to Double Or Nothing. His showdown in Vegas with his brother, Dustin Rhodes, gained universal accolades. However, Cody responded to those suggestions in his typical maverick fashion. Here’s the AEW Superstar’s tweet:

AEW Fyter Fest will take place at the Ocean Center of Daytona Beach on Saturday, June 29. Fans can stream the event for free live at BleacherReportLive.com. The “Buy In” pre-show will start at 7 p.m. EST with the show starting at 8 p.m. EST.

The Fyter Fest card also boasts the AEW in-ring debut for Jon Moxley. The former WWE Champion will face bad boy Joey Janela. In addition, Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks will battle The Lucha Bros. and Laredo Kid in six-man tag team action. AEW Championship contender Hangman Page also takes the ring. He’ll battle MJF, Jungle Boy and Jimmy Havoc in a Fatal 4-Way match. Meanwhile, Nyla Rose will face Riho and Yuka Sakazaki in women’s division action.

AEW announced two matches for the “Buy In” pre-show. Michael Nakazawa will take on Alex Jebailey in a hardcore match. In addition, So Cal Uncensored will face The Best Friends and Private Party in a triple-threat tag team match.
