Dynamite Match Nixed Due To Two AEW Stars Testing Positive To COVID-19

This past Wednesday night’s episode of AEW Dynamite featured the Dynamite debut of AEW’s newly-signed top star CM Punk and the show was reportedly set to be built around CM Punk’s debut, with the company continuing the build and the hype to the upcoming All Out PPV Event. Dynamite this past Wednesday was supposed to have a match taking place, but Dave Meltzer reported on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that a number of changes were made to the show.

According to Meltzer, a match that wasn’t advertised to take place on Dynamite, but was planned and a match that would have been announced shortly before the show went on the air was changed or was nixed as two wrestlers who were set to be featured in the match tested positive for COVID-19.

There is no word yet on who those two wrestlers are, but Meltzer did mention that neither of them had any symptoms and that they were fully vaccinated, though AEW did find out about the positive COVID-19 tests before the match was to be announced. Next week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, which is the go-home show of the upcoming All Out PPV Event, will be a stacked show from top to bottom as FTR is set to go up against Santana and Ortiz, Brian Cage is set to face Powerhouse Hobbs and Orange Cassidy is set to take on Jack Evans. AEW Dynamite next week will also see Jim Ross have an in-ring interview with “The Demo God” Chris Jericho.
