AEW World Champion Kenny Omega, who is also the IMPACT World Champion and AAA Mega Champion, retained his AEW World Title against PAC and Orange Cassidy in a Three-Way Match at the Double or Nothing PPV. AEW World Champion Kenny Omega is now set to defend his AEW World Title against Jungle Boy in a match that was originally scheduled to take place on the Friday, June 11th Dynamite episode, but it has now been moved.
AEW President and CEO Tony Khan recently appeared on Busted Open Radio, where he made two blockbuster announcements. Tony Khan first announced that the week after next week AEW Dynamite will be airing on Saturday, June 26th, instead of a Friday night, which was the schedule of Dynamite last week and this week and will also be the schedule of Dynamite next week. Tony Khan also announced that the AEW World Title Match between Kenny Omega and Jungle Boy will now be taking place on the June 26 Dynamite show.
There’s no word yet on why the AEW World Title Match was moved, but since the June 11th Dynamite show was taped with no fans in the audience, it made more sense to have the match when fans are present as this match is a huge deal for AEW, most especially for Jungle Boy, who is over in a huge way with the fans as a babyface. Jungle Boy earned his title shot by winning the Casino Battle Royale at Double or Nothing this past Sunday night and his match on June 26 will be his first-ever opportunity at the AEW World Title.
Due to the NBA Playoffs being aired on TNT, AEW Dynamite has been and will continue to be pre-empted. Instead of the usual Wednesday night broadcast, AEW Dynamite has been airing on either a Friday night or a Saturday night. As mentioned, last week’s episode aired on a Friday night as did this week’s AEW Dynamite episode. Next week’s episode of Dynamite will also air on a Friday night, while the last two Dynamite episodes of the month will air on a Saturday night, which is the June 19th and June 26th AEW Dynamite episodes.
