All Elite Wrestling was established back on January 1st, 2019 and several top stars in the promotion, including the inaugural AEW World Champion Chris Jericho and AEW EVPs The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega would initially sign a three-year deal with the promotion. Other top stars in the company such as Jon Moxley, who made his AEW debut at the promotion’s inaugural PPV Event known as Double or Nothing, had signed with All Elite Wrestling on the day of the PPV.
Majority of the wrestlers who signed with AEW back in 2019 have already signed new deals to stay with the company for another 3 years or so, while other AEW wrestlers are just waiting for their contracts to expire, which will reportedly happen soon.
Dave Meltzer mentioned on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that Jon Moxley is more than likely one of those wrestlers who has already signed a new three-year deal with the company as his initial three-year deal with AEW is set to expire soon, but he doesn’t know if the deal Moxley has with AEW has an option that his contract will be picked up for another year before he has to sign a new deal with All Elite Wrestling.
This is what Dave Meltzer said:
“We’re right at the time where the people who were signed prior to the first show [Double Or Nothing] because the first round of people were the people who were signed on the first week of the year, January 1st essentially, Young Bucks and Kenny Omega was like February actually. Jericho, Cody Rhodes, and all that. They were due at the top of the year.”
“[Bryan] Danielson and Kazarian…Scorpio Sky was early also. Moxley would probably be one of those guys if he signed a three-year deal. The three years would be up. I don’t know the deals as far as if he has an option or whatever like that. All the people who would’ve debuted at that first show in Vegas that signed three-year deals, and JR would’ve been one of those people where he debuted on that show their deals are coming up now.”
Jon Moxley is set to team with Bryan Danielson, Eddie Kingston, Santana and Ortiz to face all members of The Jericho Appreciation Society in an Anarchy In The Arena Match at AEW Double or Nothing.
