There were reports that ROH World Champion and PROGRESS Wrestling World Champion Jonathan Gresham had been in talks with AEW President and CEO Tony Khan, who is also now the owner of ROH, that he will be signing with AEW/ROH soon and now Fightful Select has confirmed that this is the plan moving forward.
According to the report, several sources have indicated that the working plan is for Jonathan Gresham to sign with AEW/ROH and that he is expected to work AEW dates. It was also noted that there was talk of integrating ROH’s upcoming Supercard of Honor PPV Event into the announcement of Gresham’s signing with AEW/ROH, but that has yet to be confirmed. There is no word though if Gresham will work majority of his time in a single promotion or if he will split his time between ROH and AEW.
Jonathan Gresham and Tony Khan is said to be keeping everyone in the dark about the situation as “The Octopus” Jonathan Gresham is currently working with IMPACT Wrestling and completing the recent set of TV Tapings he attended in Philadelphia, but sources there have indicated that they expect him to make his debut for AEW soon. Gresham will reportedly be continuing to work independent dates as well as in IMPACT Wrestling until his deal with AEW/ROH has been made official and it’s believed that it will be confirmed in the next few weeks.
Jonathan Gresham is set to battle Bandido in a Winner Take All ROH World Title Unification Matchup at Supercard Of Honor XV and even though Tony Khan has already bought the company, that matchup is still being advertised as of this writing. ROH Supercard Of Honor is set to take place on Friday, April 1st from the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas during WWE’s WrestleMania 38 Weekend.
