MJF has been one of the top Stars in All Elite Wrestling ever since he signed with the promotion back in 2019. He has been put in a feud with AEW TNT Champion Wardlow, former AEW Champion CM Punk and top WWE Star Cody Rhodes over the past year or so and he is recognized as one of, if not the biggest heel not only in AEW, but in all of pro wrestling.
Following his rant on an episode of AEW Dynamite several months back, MJF made his highly-anticipated return at the All Out PPV when he would win the Casino Ladder Match with the help of Stokely Hathaway and The Firm to earn a shot at the AEW World Champion Jon Moxley at Saturday’s Full Gear Event. Since then, the fans have been behind MJF and they have even been cheering for him every chance they get to the point that they’re now being referred to as “Devil Worshipers” and MJF is referring to himself as “The Devil.”
Maxwell Jacob Friedman spoke with Joseph Staszewski of The New York Post and reiterated that his deal with AEW expires on January 1st, 2024. MJF also revealed that he has not signed an extension with All Elite Wrestling, but AEW CEO Tony Khan is paying him more money now without even signing an extension with the company. It was previously revealed that MJF is making more than $1 million per year.
This is what MJF said:
“I know the truth. I most certainly haven’t. I think that wrestling fans are kind of just doing that to kid themselves. So maybe they feel a little less heartbroken as things are going on. Now I’ll tell you this, bonus and brownie points from Tony Khan for paying me what he’s paying me now with no extension. He did not have to do that.”
AEW World Champion Jon Moxley will defend his AEW World Championship against MJF in the main event of this coming Saturday’s AEW Full Gear PPV.
