News On AEW Rampage’s Overnight Ratings Against WWE SmackDown

This past Friday night, WWE held their Supersized episode of SmackDown on FS1 due to the start of the NHL season on FOX and that led to WWE SmackDown airing for an extra half hour commercial-free. At the same hour of 10PM ET that SmackDown originally comes to a close, AEW Rampage began on TNT, so for the first time ever, AEW went head-to-head against WWE’s main show.

It was noted on the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that even though the full details of AEW Rampage and WWE SmackDown’s television ratings will not be available until later today they provided a little bit of insight on what the numbers could look like. It was revealed that the amount of viewers in the 18-49 key demographic was different from major city to major city, which you can check out the entire list of below:

Chicago: 1.0

Philadelphia: 0.2

Dallas: 0.7

Atlanta: 0.1

Houston: 0.4

Washington D.C.: 0.4

Dave Meltzer also noted that AEW drew double the viewers of last week on the major markets, which was a rating of .17. Meltzer then mentioned that while WWE SmackDown was on the air, the show likely took close to 11% of the viewers AEW typically has on a Friday night. The Buy-In Pre-Show video, which has reached over 867,000 views on the company’s official YouTube channel as of this writing, is the most-watched AEW video of the week on YouTube.
