News On Kenny Omega Possibly Taking Time Off From AEW

As previously reported, top AEW Star Kenny Omega has been dealing with quite a number of injuries for the past several months, which is the reason why he was scheduled to get medically checked out on AEW Dynamite last night. Kenny Omega has reportedly been suffering from vertigo since 2018 and said in an interview that while he is competing in the ring, things start to spin. It was also said that updates will be provided soon if Omega will need to take some time off.

An update was recently provided by PWInsider.com that Kenny Omega may be out of in-ring action for an extended period of time and that it is likely he will need to undergo shoulder surgery, but officials in AEW are hoping to provide some clarity on Omega’s future and status with the company sometime this week. It was also noted that if Omega does get shoulder surgery, then he will be put on the shelf for quite some time depending on how long his recovery time will be.

Kenny Omega has reportedly been planning to take some time off as prior to joining AEW in 2019 he has had an extremely tiring and grueling schedule as a top star in NJPW and even before that, he has been dealing with quite a number of injuries. Not only has Kenny Omega competed in AEW for the past number of years, but he has also competed in NJPW, IMPACT Wrestling and AAA.

The main event of last Saturday night’s AEW Full Gear PPV saw Kenny Omega lose the AEW World Title to Hangman Page. Omega wanted to push through with the match against Hangman at Full Gear because he was the AEW World Champion at the time and he also wanted to end his ultra-physical and much talked about storyline with Page. Omega is the reigning AAA Mega Champion and he is set to defend his championship against El Hijo del Vikingo at AAA’s TripleMania Regia II Event on December 4. There’s no word yet on if Kenny Omega will still be able to defend his championship or if there will be changes, but updates will be provided once it has been made available.
