Professional wrestling has changed and evolved over the years, with the women now getting more screen time and opportunities than before and women even main-eventing PPV Events and weekly TV shows. Stars in the women’s division of top promotions such as AEW and the WWE have really revolutionized and made women’s pro wrestling what it is today.
Both AEW and the WWE have really showcased what their women’s division talents can do, but that could all be taken away as there have reportedly been rumors over the past year or so that TNT officials as well as officials from WarnerMedia are limiting the amount of time women wrestlers can compete on AEW Dynamite and the rumors are that officials from these networks only wanted one women’s division match per AEW Dynamite episode.
According to Fightful Select, there is no truth to this and that a mandate was never made for women’s matches to more or less have a decrease in screen time. It was also noted that this is something that the network officials will never do and it never even reached anyone in AEW. Instead, WarnerMedia and TNT officials are more focused on producing good content and they enjoy it even more when the company has good ratings and viewership, which is the reason why they take to their social media accounts and issue press releases when AEW Dynamite is able to draw good viewership numbers and key demo ratings.
The women’s division in AEW is currently headed by AEW Women’s World Champion Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. and the promotion is planning to crown their inaugural AEW TBS Champion, which will be a second title for their women’s division.
