News On The Title vs. Title Match With Omega At Rebellion

As previously reported, IMPACT EVP Scott D’ Amore announced that the main event of IMPACT’s Sacrifice PPV, which saw Rich Swann capture both the IMPACT World and TNA World Heavyweight Championships, will be an IMPACT World Title vs. TNA World Heavyweight Championship Title vs. Title Unification Match and the winner will then move on to Rebellion and face AEW World Champion Kenny Omega.

There were rumors and speculations that the blockbuster matchup between Rich Swann and Kenny Omega at IMPACT’s Rebellion will be a title unification match as well, where the IMPACT World Championship and the AEW World Championship will be unified, similar to last Saturday’s Sacrifice PPV when the TNA and IMPACT World Championships were unified, but it should be noted that the “Title Unification” word was not used for the Rebellion Match, just like it was for the match at Sacrifice.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there is no plan in place for what is to happen after the Rebellion PPV as the plan that has been made is only for that night. While there’s no word yet on what the finish will be at Rebellion, it was also reported that plans for that night do not include a Double Count Out finish or a 60 minute time limit draw finish.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter also noted that IMPACT Wrestling is not looking to do what was done by AAA when they had Kenny Omega capture the AAA Mega Title from Rey Fenix at their Héroes Inmortales XIII Event on October 19th, 2019. Since then, Kenny Omega has held the title and has only defended it twice. AAA is reportedly satisfied with the fact that “The Best Wrestler In The World” Omega comes in when he is allowed to and give them a top calibre World Title Match.

IMPACT Wrestling reportedly does not want to follow the footsteps of AAA as they want a champion, who for the most part, will appear on their weekly TV show. AEW President and CEO Tony Khan, on the other hand, wants a World Champion who won’t lose in any other promotion aside from AEW, until he loses the AEW World Title first.
