News On When Kenny Omega’s AEW Contract Is Set To Expire

“The Cleaner” Kenny Omega is recognized as one of, if not the greatest pro wrestler in the modern era and possibly even of all time. He has won championship gold in every promotion he has competed in and he was even one of the first signees in AEW as well as one of the most dominant World Champion in the history of All Elite Wrestling.

Dave Meltzer mentioned on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that “The Cleaner” Kenny Omega only has one year left on his current All Elite Wrestling contract and that his deal with the company is set to expire on Thursday, February 23, 2023. Meltzer also mentioned it is unknown how Omega is feeling right now as he is currently out of action due to several injuries. Kenny Omega last competed for All Elite Wrestling at the Full Gear PPV Event, when he lost the AEW World Title to Adam Page and he has since been on the sidelines as he has injuries that needs to be surgically repaired.

AEW President and CEO Tony Khan recently spoke with PWInsider.com on Omega’s status with AEW and when The Cleaner is expected back. Khan said he personally misses Omega and Omega is definitely one of the greatest wrestlers of all time and a dominant World Champion in the company for almost a year, but he is currently healing from a bunch of significant injuries. Tony Khan also said it’s time for Omega to rehabilitate and heal, so that The Cleaner can come back stronger and better than ever and he is very excited for Omega to make his return this 2022 as it will be a long time coming.

This is what Tony Khan said:

“We miss Kenny Omega greatly.” “He’s one of the greatest wrestlers of all time and was a dominant champion in AEW for almost a year. And I personally miss Kenny Omega being around very much. He’s healing from a bunch of injuries, significant injuries. And he wrestled through all of that and had some of the best matches in the history of the company while he was really beat up.”

“He really cares a lot about wrestling and he worked his ass off to fill up and make his matches great even when he was in a ton of pain and could barely get through it. Now it’s time for him to rehabilitate and heal and he’s going to come back stronger, and come back, I hope as good or even better than ever. I really believe the stuff he did while he was physically limited was so impressive. I think he was absolutely the wrestler of the year for 2021. And I’m very excited for Kenny Omega’s return in 2022. It’ll be a long time coming and we’d be excited to have him back.”
