News On Who Made The Decision For FTR To Win The AAA Tag Titles

On the Saturday, October 16th episode of Dynamite, Lucha Brothers (Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix) defended the AAA Tag Team Titles against FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood), with FTR defeating Lucha Brothers and coming out of the match as the brand-new AAA Tag Team Champions.

The matchup saw FTR make their way down to the ring as Las Super Rana to challenge the Lucha Brothers for the AAA Tag Team Titles, with the storyline being that Andrade El Idolo paid MJF for the services of the Pinnacle for them to take the AAA Tag Team Titles away from the Lucha Brothers.

Dave Meltzer noted on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the decision for FTR to win the AAA Tag Team Titles came from AEW President and CEO Tony Khan, who had a conversation with AAA in regards to the idea and they gave the green light to go through with it. A blockbuster AAA Tag Team Title Matchup is reportedly in the works, where we could see FTR defend the tag team titles in a 3-Way Match against the Lucha Brothers and Dragon Lee and Dralistico at the December 4th Regia show.

It was previously reported that the plan is for Vickie Guerrero to manage FTR in AAA instead of Tully Blanchard, who plays the role of their on-screen manager in AEW, at AAA’s tapings on November 4th.
