Prior to this past Tuesday’s episode of IMPACT going off the air, which was the go-home show of their Sacrifice PPV Event set to take place this Saturday, IMPACT Wrestling EVP Scott D’Amore has announced that Rich Swann and Moose will defend both their IMPACT World and TNA World Heavyweight Championships in a Unification Match. The winner of that match will then go on to face the AEW World Champion Kenny Omega in the main event of Rebellion on Saturday, April 24th in a Title vs. Title Match.
Moose has been targeting Rich Swann since Hard To Kill and has been wanting to face him for the title he possesses, which is the IMPACT World Title. The feud between Moose and Swann began after they took a major loss to Kenny Omega and the IMPACT Wrestling Tag Team Champions The Good Brothers in the main event of Hard To Kill.
At IMPACT’s Rebellion PPV last April, Moose officially brought back the retired TNA World Heavyweight Title and has since been calling himself the “Self-Proclaimed” TNT World Heavyweight Champion. He has even defended the championship a number of times against TNA veterans and has retained it. IMPACT EVP Scott D’ Amore only officially sanctioned the title again last month.
Kenny Omega, on the other hand, has been undefeated since winning the AEW World Title from Jon Moxley last December. At AEW’s Revolution PPV Event last Sunday night, Kenny Omega defeated Jon Moxley in an Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch to retain his title. It will be interesting to see who among the TNA World Heavyweight Champion Moose or IMPACT World Champion Rich Swann will be the first-ever in IMPACT Wrestling history to unify the company’s two top titles and go on to Rebellion and face the AEW World Champion Kenny Omega in a Title vs. Title Match.
