Reason Buddy Matthews Was Not On Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite

As previously reported, House Of Black’s Buddy Matthews recently took to Instagram and posted a video of himself working out at the gym, while also revealing that he’s currently suffering from a shoulder injury, but Matthews did not expound further on the injury he is currently dealing with and he didn’t reveal the extent of his injury as well.

Brody King, Matthews’ partner in the House Of Black, challenged Interim AEW World Champion Jon Moxley for his Interim AEW World Championship in the main event of last Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite, but he would unfortunately come up short. Immediately following the match, Malakai Black made his way out to help Brody King to the back and to perhaps have a little talk with him before they were met by Sting and Darby Allin in the ramp way. Buddy Matthews did not appear in the post-match segment on AEW Dynamite last Wednesday night alongside Brody King and Malakai Black, which Dave Meltzer addressed on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

According to Meltzer, Buddy Matthews didn’t appear on the show because he’s currently doing a tour in Australia for World Series Wrestling, which reigning ROH World Champion Jonathan Gresham was supposed to do, but was pulled by AEW because the company needed him in the United States to do the segment as well as his heel turn on Lee Moriarty. The segment would result in a match being set to take place on next week’s episode of AEW Rampage for the ROH World Championship between Gresham and Moriarty.

Buddy Matthews didn’t reveal how the shoulder injury happened nor did he reveal if he will be missing any action as a result of his injury, but updates will be provided once it’s been made available. The House Of Black member has not competed for the company since losing to PAC on the June 8th episode of AEW Dynamite in an AEW All-Atlantic Championship Tournament Qualifying Match.
