This past Wednesday night’s episode of Dynamite had a huge lineup from top to bottom, with Jon Moxley making his highly-anticipated return, CM Punk facing Shawn Spears in Singles action, AEW TNT Champion Cody Rhodes making his return, Adam Cole and AEW Women’s World Champion Dr. Britt Baker facing Orange Cassidy and Kris Statlander in Mixed Tag Team action, Kings Of The Black Throne members Malakai Black and Brody King battling Varsity Blonds (Brian Pillman Jr. and Griff Garrison) in a Tag Team Match and Sting and Darby Allin taking on The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens and Max Caster) in the main event.
We were also supposed to see FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) face Nightmare Family (Brock Anderson and Lee Johnson) in Tag Team action on this past Wednesday night’s Dynamite, but the match was pulled from the show and the fans were never given a reason as to why.
Dave Meltzer noted on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that the match did not take place on Dynamite due to “medical protocols.” Meltzer also mentioned that while he isn’t exactly sure what that means, he believes it is related to COVID-19. It was not revealed who specifically was dealing with the health issues, but it was mentioned that both members of FTR are fine.
FTR last competed for AEW on the January 5th episode of Dark: Elevation, when they beat Myles Hawkins and Pat Brink in Tag Team action. ROH and GCW World Tag Team Champions The Briscoes will have an Open Challenge for their GCW World Tag Team Championships at GCW’s The Wrld On GCW Event on Sunday and FTR has been rumored to appear on the show to answer their challenge as they have been having a back-and-forth on social media over the past several weeks.
There is no word yet on if All Elite Wrestling will announce or book anything involving the Nightmare Family and FTR for next week’s Dynamite episode, but a match between the two teams will likely be re-booked for a future episode of Dynamite or even Rampage.
