Rey Fenix Pulled From Omega Match By AEW Ringside Physician

It was previously reported that the semi-finals match in the 8-Man Tournament on AEW Dynamite, which was originally supposed to see Rey Fenix take on Kenny Omega had a major change take place when Fenix was pulled out of the match and replaced by his brother, Penta El Zero M.

This was reportedly due to Fenix falling on his head during his opening round bout against his brother, which he emerged victorious from.

Dave Meltzer reported on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that Fenix was pulled by AEW Ringside Physician Michael Sampson.

It was also mentioned that Rey Fenix did inform everyone that he was doing just fine, but Sampson still made the call for him to be replaced. The Omega/Penta Match was reportedly taped on Thursday of last week as was the rest of the show.

There is reportedly a plan in the works where Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero M will work in a program down the line, with a match between Rey Fenix and Omega being part of that program since it didn’t happen this time around.
