Two-time WWE Hall of Famer “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair is officially one of the top free agents in the pro wrestling business today and can choose to sign with any wrestling promotion he wants to after he reportedly requested his release from WWE and it was granted to him. Fans have been speculating as to where the two-time WWE Hall of Famer will end up as he recently made an appearance at the NWA 73 show as well as in the corner of his son-in-law, AEW Star Andrade El Idolo, at AAA TripleMania XXIX, which has led to rumors and speculations that Ric Flair will soon be making his way to AEW.
Ric Flair recently made an appearance on an episode of Renee Paquette’s Oral Sessions podcast and the two-time WWE Hall of Famer shot down those rumors of him going to AEW. According to Flair, he and AEW CEO Tony Khan are friends, but he has not heard a single word from Khan and he has not even spoken to him.
This is what Ric Flair said:
“I can also tell ya, people started rumors -I’m not going to get into it; no need for that – ‘Oh, he’s going to AEW. He and Tony Khan are friends.’ Yeah, we are friends. But I haven’t heard a word from Tony.” “If he asks ya, tell him I’m around [he chuckles].”
Ric Flair also talked about how he would absolutely love to get back in the ring and compete and that he received a text message from WWE Star Randy Orton that if Flair was in AEW and he would find a way to reunite and get the legendary Four Horsemen together, then everybody in the world will watch it.
This is what Ric Flair said:
“Get back in the ring and entertain? Absolutely!” “[Renee asks if he would like to do it in AEW] A or B [WWE], Yes.”
“I got a text from Randy Orton. I can’t read it to you. I don’t have it but let me tell you something. [Flair gives a synopsis of what Orton sent him through text] ‘If you’re at AEW and The Four Horsemen get together, everybody in the world will watch it. So you got Arn [Anderson], Tully [Blanchard], Barry [Windham] is sitting out about a mile from here, and JJ [Dillon], fly him in. And you do a half-hour interview with [Tony] Schiavone and Jim Ross.’”
Ric Flair then talked about how he would absolutely love to compete in one more match, which is a tag team match with Andrade El Idolo against Sting and Darby Allin.
This is what Ric Flair said:
“No.” “I could be part of a match. I’d be happy doing that. Here’s an example: me and Andrade [El Idolo] against Sting and Darby Allin. What a great deal that is!”
Ric Flair then talked about how he will be at All Out this Sunday to support Andrade and to watch him compete in the ring against PAC, but no mention was made if Flair will appear on the actual PPV Event or if he will just be backstage during the show, though Flair is still believed to be AEW bound.
This is what Ric Flair said:
“I am going to see Andrade.” “When they hear the Née-Née, Deano [Jon Moxley] and The Nat, they are going to hook it up!”
