This past month, WWE released several stars, which includes Hit Row members A.J. “Top Dolla” Francis, Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, Ashante “Thee” Adonis and “B-Fab” Briana Brandy shortly after they were called up to the main roster as part of Friday Night SmackDown. It was reported on a previous edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Top Dolla had a lot of backstage heat in both WWE NXT and the main roster and he was even rubbing people the wrong way on both the main roster and on WWE NXT during the time of the releases.
Top Dolla would then reveal that he had heat because he spoke out when B-Fab was released and the rap he made for Jinder Mahal on SmackDown legitimately angered Mahal and a few WWE officials, but he said those reports are not accurate.
Not only does Top Dolla seem to have heat in WWE, but it looks like the former WWE Star rubbed people the wrong way in AEW as well, which started when Top Dolla and The Young Bucks and Max Caster had the heated exchanges on social media. During a recent live stream, the reigning TNT Champion “The Spanish God” Sammy Guevara answered several questions alongside Dark Order’s Alan “5” Angels, including “When is Top Dolla coming to AEW?,” to which Sammy quickly answered, “Never.”
It is interesting to note that Guevara and Angels seemed to be in a joking mood, so it is possible he did not give a definitive answer, but Sammy is close with the people who can make the final decision. There is no word yet on if officials from AEW or IMPACT Wrestling are interested in signing Top Dolla to a contract, but there are reports that mention there are independent promoters that are interested in booking Top Dolla on their shows.
